BDS principles and tactics have been formally endorsed (see here<\/a> and here<\/a>) by national trade union federations in South Africa, UK, Scotland, Ireland, Norway, Sweden, Belgium, the Basque Country, Brazil and other countries across Latin America, in addition to scores of national and local unions.<\/p>\n

The University and College Union (UCU) in the United Kingdom, the largest union in the sector in the UK, passed a motion<\/a> supporting BDS and circulating the BDS call to all its members.<\/p>\n

The Teachers Union of Ireland passed a motion unanimously<\/a> at Annual Congress calling for the academic boycott of Israel.<\/p>\n

University workers in the Canadian Union of Public Employees passed a motion<\/a> calling for an academic boycott of Israel.<\/p>\n

The University of Johannesburg severed ties<\/a> with Israel\u2019s Ben-Gurion University in 2011, following a campaign backed by Archbishop Desmond Tutu and over 400 South African academics.<\/p>\n

Members of the American Studies Association voted to endorse<\/a> the academic boycott of Israeli institutions.<\/p>\n

The Council of the Native American and Indigenous Studies Association issued a declaration of support<\/a> for the Boycott of Israeli Academic Institutions.<\/p>\n

The Association for Asian American Studies endorsed<\/a> the boycott of Israeli academic institutions.<\/p>\n

The National Union of Teachers in the UK (with over 300,000 members) passed<\/a> a BDS resolution at conference.<\/p>\n

In 2013 the renowned physicist Professor Stephen Hawking withdrew<\/a> from a conference in Israel in protest at the treatment of Palestinians.<\/p>\n

In addition, there is a growing list of international academics who have endorsed the boycott, including academics based in the US<\/a>, the UK<\/a>, France<\/a>, Spain<\/a> and India<\/a>.
